If you are planning the recordings for your assortment, you will find the process and the services at jewellery photography in Berlin.
Online, your photos replace what customers would do in the store: take the piece in their hands, turn it, try it on. Each image type takes on a different task.
Overview of the four types of images
| Image type | What it shows | Main use | Price at HB |
|---|---|---|---|
| Product cutouts | The product alone on a white or neutral background | Product page, marketplaces, catalogue | €20 per image and view |
| Product sets | Multiple parts or sizes in one image | Collections, size comparison | on request |
| On-model photos | Model jewellery, hand, ear or neck | Product page, sense of size, social media | from approx. €30 per image |
| Lifestyle photos | Jewellery in a staged environment | Home page, Social Media, Newsletter | from approx. €25 per image |
Product images on white background: the foundation of each product page

- Details and quality: Customers see frame, stones, surface and metal colour exactly as the piece is.
- Uniform shop: The same light and the same background make your range look calm and high-quality.
- Marketplace: Amazon demands a pure white background for the main image, and clear product images are also the basis for Google Shopping or Etsy.
- Versatile: Product images on white background can be reused for catalogues, ads and banners.
Typical views: Front, side or oblique view, detail (stone, engraving, stamp) and for chains and bracelets of the clasp. With me each view costs fixed 20 €, with or without shadow, as JPG or PSD.
Product sets: collections and sizes at a glance

Sets show what belongs together and encourage the purchase of other parts. Size series answer the question about the size better than any specification. As a category or banner picture, sets are a good start to a collection.
On-model photos: size and appearance when worn

- Feelings of size: "How big is the pendant really?" is one of the most common questions when buying jewellery.
- Less uncertainty: Those who see how a piece is worn buy more determinedly and send back less often.
- Emotion: Jewellery is worn, not exhibited. On-model photos make the product tangible.
Often a cut-out of hand, ear or neck is enough. This keeps the effort manageable and directs the view of the jewellery. On-model photos are available from approx. €30 per image, depending on the effort and wishes.
Lifestyle images: tell your brand’s story
- Social Media: On Instagram and Pinterest, atmospheric images are more noticeable than mere product images on a white background.
- Home page and campaigns: They transport your style, whether classic, playful or minimalist.
- Newsletter and advertisements: Novelties and seasonal collections become an experience.
Lifestyle pictures do not replace any product images on a white background. On the product page, customers first need a clear picture of the piece. Lifestyle pictures are available from approx. €25 per image, depending on the set and props.

How many pictures does a product need?
There is no fixed rule. Plan a main image as a product image on white background, complementary perspectives such as closure, back or frame, and a photo on the model for size and effect.
| For | Recommended mix |
|---|---|
| Each product page | 1 main image as product images on white background, 2–3 further product images on white background views, 1 photo on model |
| Bestsellers and novelties | additionally 1–2 lifestyle images for product page, social media and newsletter |
| Collections | 1 product set as category picture, for size variants a size series |
You don't need lifestyle images for every single product. Mostly, some motifs are sufficient for each collection.
What should you start with when the budget is limited?
- Product images on white background for your most important products: they form the basis.
- On-model photos for bestsellers and pieces where the size is difficult to estimate, for example pendants, hoop earrings or rings.
- Product sets for collections and gift ideas.
- Lifestyle images as soon as you want to build your brand stronger.
Consistency matters more than quantity
Ten uniform images look higher than thirty in different light, angle and background. Make sure that all product images are created in the same style, even if you have new pieces photographed later.
Frequently asked questions
What is a product image on a white background?
A product image on a white background is a product photo, in which the product is separated from the background and placed on a purely white or neutral background. It is the standard for product pages and is required by marketplaces such as Amazon for the main image.
How many pictures does a jewellery item need in the online shop?
Three to five images per article have proven themselves: several product images on white background views and at least one photo on the model. Lifestyle images are also worthwhile for bestsellers.
Do I really need on-model photos?
For most jewellery shops yes. On-model photos show size and effect on humans and thus answer one of the most important questions before buying. Even an image section of hand, ear or neck is often enough.
Can I use lifestyle images instead of product images on a white background?
Not as a substitute. Lifestyle images are ideal for brand appearance and social media, but on the product side, customers need a clear image of the product.
Which image type is best?
Product images on a white background are best planable and therefore most of the best. At HB Photography, a product image on a white background costs a fixed €20 per image and view, lifestyle images start at 25 € and on-model photos at 30 € per image, depending on the effort and wishes.
Can I get all kinds of images from a photographer?
Yes. At HB Photography, product images are photographed on a white background, product sets, on-model photos and lifestyle images. Thus, the look remains uniform across all types of images.
