The question about the price is usually the first to ask me brands and online shops. Product images show details, material and workmanship and support a uniform appearance of your online shop. In order to assess offers, I explain here how the price is composed.

Each mission is individual. All prices are final prices. As a small business under Section 19 of the German VAT Act (UStG), I do not charge VAT. On-model photos and lifestyle pictures can be more expensive, but also cheaper depending on your needs. Before starting, you always get a fixed price.

Why jewellery photography takes more work
Jewellery is one of the most demanding products in front of the camera. A T-shirt is quickly photographed. With a ring with brilliant edges is often a multiple in structure and post-processing in a single picture.
Reflective surfaces
Gold, silver and polished metal reflect everything in space. Every reflection must be consciously controlled.
Stones that should sparkle
So that a stone does not look grey and flat, it needs targeted light and often several shots.
Millimetre-scale details
Engravings and frames are tiny. For continuous sharpness, focus stacking is often used.
Dust and scratches
What is invisible with the naked eye is immediately noticeable in the magnification. Cleaning and retouching cost time.
The main price factors
1. Image type
The biggest lever. Product images on white background are easy to plan and the most convenient. Product sets, on-model photos with model and lifestyle pictures with set and props need more time. 2. Number of articles and views
Many shops show three to five images per product: front, page, detail, possibly closure. Check in advance whether a price per image or per article is valid. It's easy for me: every product picture on white background view costs 20 €.
3. Material and difficulty level
A matt pendant is easier than a highly polished gold ring with a Pavé barrel. Shiny metals, transparent stones, mother-of-pearl and bicolour jewellery need more light work.
4. Retouching and processing
Clear, remove dust and scratches, correct reflections and colour stitches, display yellow, rose and white gold in true colour and create a uniform look over the whole collection. For many suppliers, this costs extra. With my product images on a white background, processing is included in the price.
5. Formats and rights of use
Shop, Amazon, Etsy, catalog, social media: Different formats mean additional exports. Usage rights for your shop, marketplaces, social media and advertising are included in the price. Ask what exactly is agreed.
6. Logistics
Insured shipping, personal transfer or collection influence the total price. In the Berlin area I also collect your jewellery personally.

How to save without losing quality
- Bundle your items. An entire collection at once is more efficient than many small orders.
- Plan your views. Not every article needs five pictures.
- Combine image types wisely. Product images on white background for all items, on-model photos and lifestyle for bestsellers and new products.
- Prepare your jewellery cleaned for shipment. Without labels and protective foils you save retouching time.
- Give a clear image. An example image from your shop prevents correction loops.

How much does a product picture cost on a white background of jewellery?
On the German market, simple product images on a white background of jewellery are roughly between 10 and 40 € per image, with elaborate retouching also higher. At HB Photography, a product image on a white background costs a fixed €20 per image and view, including editing, with or without shadow and as JPG or PSD.
How much do on-model photos and lifestyle pictures at HB Photography cost?
Lifestyle pictures start at 25 € and photos at the model at 30 € per picture. Each order is individual: Depending on the effort and wishes, the price can be higher or lower. You will get a fixed price in advance.
Do photographers calculate per image or per hour?
For product images on a white background and collections, it is usually charged per image or per article. On-model photos with model and lifestyle shoots are more often calculated using a daily rate or a project price.
Why is jewellery photography more expensive than normal product photography?
Jewellery is small, reflects strongly and has fine details. Light, sharpness and retouching require much more time than most other products.
Are the rights of use included in the price?
Usage rights for your shop, marketplaces, social media and advertising are included in the price.
Can I just send my jewellery by mail?
Yes. Many customers send their products insured by post to the studio and get them back after the shoot. HB Photography also offers personal pick-up in the Berlin area.
How do I get a binding offer?
Write which and how many items you want to photograph and what you need the pictures for. You will then get a fixed price before the shoot starts.
